1. More affordable than any other Mexican destination
Brides & Grooms that we’ve interviewed have shared the fact that their research proved Huatulco to be almost half the cost of most other Mexican wedding destinations (when renting private villa accommodations). With all-inclusive wedding packages in private luxurious accommodations starting at less than $800 per person/week…Huatulco definitely offers more for less!
2. Huatulco offers a higher eco-tourism rating than Costa Rica
It is a little known fact that this southern-most destination in Mexico boasts the prize of being a global leader in eco-tourism. With the majority of the area’s acres held as ecological reserves, the Mexican government’s group FONATUR has maintained an ecologically unique tourist development in Huatulco. The strict development guidelines have dictated that all hotels and private structures be limited to six stories in height. This guideline has ensured the sustainability of the beautiful Oaxacan coastline! The developed bays offer beautiful coastline – a perfect backdrop for a destination wedding! Even more unique and stunning are the undeveloped bays, which can be reached by boat in about 15-20 minutes from the main marinas. These bays present the gateway to Eden…crystal waters, rolling sand dunes, untouched jungle backdrop – and not a soul in site! You can spend the day in your own private paradise with just a bathing suit, a picnic lunch and a cooler of some cold beverages of choice. For many travelers, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
3. Guaranteed sunshine for the high season (November through April)
Huatulco’s average water temperatures are 28ºC /82.4 degrees Fahrenheit. In the high season (or dry season), you can be assured that not a drop of rain will hit the ground for a good six-months. So, there’s no hoping for the perfect day for a wedding in Huatulco because they are all perfect. It is rare to even see a cloud in the sky!
4. Paradise without the crowds
Hailed by Conde Nast Magazine as a place where “Surfing, ecotourism, hippie chic, and luxe family resorts all coexist—and, blessedly, without any crowds.” And by the New York Times as “The Anti-Cancun”…
Huatulco is still somewhat of an undiscovered paradise in the world of tourism. Because of this beautiful fact, travelers still get a real taste of mexican culture and flair in this region of the country. While still offering the markets and the central square full of little jewelery and pottery shops, Huatulco will spare you from American fast food chains and cheesy tourist traps! This is a destination that truly allows you to experience Mexico’s ecological beauty and cultural delights.
5. It’s the vacation destination of choice for Mexicans…what else do you need to know?
The Mexican tourists in Huatulco outnumber American/Canadian tourists 10 to 1. Coming from all over Mexico to enjoy the country’s best features, Mexican travelers are abundant in Huatulco. The best stamp of approval you could get on this region is the fact that residents of Mexico City are coming in to host their weddings in Huatulco. Afterall, who knows the country better than those who were born and raised there?

This region brings an entirely new flavor to Mexican destination weddings. Offering a higher eco-tourism rating than Costa Rica, Huatulco’s incredible surroundings are the perfect backdrop for your special day. Our goal is to provide you with a one-stop shop for all your needs related to the destination wedding – and to remove as much stress and strain from the process as possible.
Commonly Huatulco proves to be a much more affordable location than other regions of Mexico (such as the Mayan Riviera and Cancun) while offering a much richer cultural experience. The local Oaxacan people provide such a warm environment and service offering, your group will appreciate being catered with lavish and courteous service throughout the area. Wedding packages that include your wedding coordinator fees, accomodations, three meals daily & airport transportation for you and your guests can be as low as $600 per person (before airfare).
Wedding Coordinator: A Texas native and nine-year resident of Huatulco, Valerie Verhalen is a local wedding planner and expert on tourism related activities and accommodations. Valerie continues to be the leader in wedding coordiation and party planning services in this region. Partnered with My Huatulco Vacation, the group offers complete packages – catering to everything from accommodations to private all-inclusive packages.
Accommodation Coordinators: My Huatulco Vacation has options for groups of all sizes from 6 to 60+. They will assist in coordinating suitable privately owned accommodation solutions for your party. They represent properties in all regions and bays in the Huatulco area and can provide helpful suggestions to guide you in making choices for your ceremony as well as ideal locations for your group (depending on your unique requirements and needs). Thanks to the privacy of all accommodation options offered, your wedding group will not have to share its pool and common areas with strangers or hotel guests. You and your friends & family will have your very own luxurious paradise to enjoy with all the resort amenities and more.
Group Meals & Tours/All Inclusive Options: Recently, My Huatulco Vacation began offering All-Inclusive options for its group bookings. For groups of 10+ the costs range from $175/week per person to $300/week per person. The base package includes 7 days worth of meals (3 meals a day) and airport transportation. The upgraded packages include a day at sea for a private group yachting/sailing tour and/0r an alcohol package for your group. The cruises can accomodate up to 18 people comfortably and can be used for either a tour of the bays, a snorkeling trip or a fishing excursion. If your group is larger than 18 people, your package would include two or more days at sea that people in your group can sign-up for. All packages provide you with a private chef for your entire stay. You can choose from a few weekly menus and adjustments can be made to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions if necessary.
Other Considerations: Due to the nature of the consultation services, this group offers a very personalized experience with Canadian & American consultants who are able to spend time educating the bride and groom on the region and the many benefits it offers a wedding party/group.
